Description
The European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage | Europa Nostra Awards highlight some of the best achievements in heritage care and showcase remarkable efforts made in raising awareness about our cultural heritage.
With the mission to protect the heritage and cultural landscapes in Europe, this prize is the result of a partnership between the European Commission within the framework of the Creative Europe programme and Europa Nostra, an organisation that represents 250 NGOs, 150 associated organisations and 1,500 individual members in over 50 countries. The Europa Nostra Prize is awarded annually for outstanding projects that contribute to the study and preservation of Europe's heritage, as well as raising people's awareness regarding their value and impact on the economy. All the winning projects are examples of what the communities and citizens can do with their heritage.
The CNC – Centro Nacional de Cultura, is Europe Nostra's representative in Portugal.
The prizes are divided into four main categories:
- Conservation projects;
- Research;
- Dedicated service to heritage conservation education;
- Training and awareness raising within Europe's cultural heritage sector.
More than 30 projects all over Europe receive this award. Out of these, seven will receive the Grand Prize worth 10 thousand euros and one will be awarded the Public Choice Award chosen by an online poll conducted by Europa Nostra.
Objective
The aim of the initiative is to promote and reward success and altruism in the field of cultural heritage. Its main aims are to raise awareness of the issues facing the sector, recognise achievements in service to protecting European cultural heritage and encourage a greater appreciation of European culture heritage.
According to a recent study, the Heritage Prize's greatest impact is to highlight examples of successes in the sector and raise awareness of best practices across Europe.

Music Moves Europe Talent Award
Description
The European Union Prize for Contemporary Music - Music Moves Europe Talent Award - succeeds the European Border Breakers Awards (EBBA) to celebrate emerging artists who represent the sound of today and tomorrow.
How it works
Twenty-four prominent artists are nominated for the Music Moves Europe Talent Awards. An international jury selects two winners from each of the following six genres of pop, rock, electronic, R&B/urban, hip-hop/rap and singer/songwriter.
The twelve winning artists are rewarded with a performance at ESNS in Groningen (Netherlands), a development programme and financial support for tours and promotions. All winners compete for a public choice award, which will be announced at the awards ceremony during ESNS.
The Music Moves Europe Talent Award is organised by ESNS (Eurosonic) and the Reeperbahn Festival in partnership with Yourope, the Independent Music Companies Association (IMPALA), International Music Managers Forum (IMMF), Liveurope Platform, Live DMA, European Music Exporters Exchange (EMEE), Digital Music Europe (DME) and media partner European Broadcasting Union (EBU). Prizes are implemented in close co-operation with the European Comission and co-financed by Creative Europe.

European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture
European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture.
Description
The European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture is a biennial prize co-funded by the Creative Europe programme and Mies van der Rohe Foundation, with the aim of recognising and rewarding outstanding examples of architecture. The prize is complemented by the Special Mention for an Emerging Architect awarded to a single piece of architecture.
Co-organised by the European Commission in collaboration with the Mies van der Rohe Foundation (the headquarters of which are in Barcelona), it is supported by a network of 15 architectural institutions and a committee of experts from 31 different countries.
The main prize of €60,000 and the Special Mention for an Emerging Architect prize of €20,000 are granted to individual works that demonstrate excellence in conceptual, social, cultural and technical terms. The prize also includes a sculpture that evokes the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion in Barcelona.
Objective
The aim of the prize is to increase awareness of excellence in the field of architecture, drawing attention to the contributions of European professionals in the development of new concepts of architecture, techniques and technologies.

Cross-sectoral Strand
Along with the MEDIA and CULTURE sub-programmes, Creative Europe has integrated a Cross-Sectoral Strand. As specified in the Regulations, the cross-sectoral strand's purpose is for the transnational exchange of experiences and knowledge in relation to new business models and management, as well as peer-learning activities. It also supports networking between cultural and creative organisations and those responsible for public policies regarding development of the cultural and creative sectors, with the creation of a digital network where appropriate. It also seeks to facilitate access to funding for SMEs and organisations operating in the cultural and creative sectors.
Regulation no. No 1295/13, setting the Creative Europe Programme (from 2014-2020)
- Funding for cross-sectoral projects (studies and lines of funding to support refugee integration projects, among others);
- Funding of the Creative Europe Desks (in Portugal: the Creative Europe Information Centre).
- The Guarantee Fund provides bank financing to the value of €121 million for SMEs and organisations in the cultural and creative sectors;
- As part of its plan to facilitate access to funding for SMEs and organisations in the cultural and creative sectors as part of the Creative Europe Programme 2014-2020 (cross-sectoral strand), the European Commission (in co-operation with the European Investment Fund) launched the Financial Guarantee Facility for the cultural and creative sectors to help encourage financial institutions to introduce a portfolio of loans for SMEs operating in these sectors. In Portugal, the bank Caixa Geral de Depósitos joined the Financial Guarantee Facility and in 2019 launched the Caixa Invest Cultura Criativa, product for SMEs and organisations in the cultural and creative sectors.
